A Few Things to Know About SPRINKLES

Who doesn’t love sprinkles! They are the glitter on the cake to finish the masterpiece.  Sprinkles can be used inside a cake or cookie, or on top of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, covered pretzels – you name it!

For this recipe, I would suggest choosing between Jimmies or Crystal Sugar.  In this recipe I used Topper Sprinkles AKA Jimmies.  They were softer in the cookie after being baked.  If you prefer a bit of a crunch, you might want to go for the Decorative Sugars AKA Crystal Sugar

Topper Sprinkles AKA Jimmies

These are a heavier type of sprinkle – easy to place on top of cakes, cupcakes, and cookies with frosting.  you can have fun with these sprinkles and create your own mixture or find pre-made mixtures.

Decorative Sugars AKA Crystal Sugar

If you choose to use these, expect to have a bit of a crunch with whatever you add them to.  Also, if you’re using a wetter frosting – the colors will likely run or bleed out.  The crystals are larger than granulated sugar and more similar in size to coarse salt.

There are many other sprinkles we could chat about, but I’ll save that for another day.  Happy Baking!
