Our Favorite Children’s Books

April 3, 2020

Happy National Children’s Book Day!

All of us over at Rowdy Gowdys have a love for children’s books.  The collections we have of children’s books is much larger than our adult books, but don’t worry, we still read adult books too. We cherish the time we get to read books with our kids and can’t wait to share some of our favorites with you today.

My favorite children’s book is just about any book by Mo Willems, but lately Annabelle and I have been loving The Pigeon Needs a Bath.  It’s a fun book that teaches us to try new things, because you never know if you’ll end up loving it.

My kids and I love “The Circus Ship” by Chris Van Dusen.  This book is full of rhyming text, beautiful artwork, animals, humor and search and find pages.  A wonderful book for all ages.

-Aly

My favorite children’s book (and Charlie’s too) is Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle.  I love it because it is so fun to read with its rhythm and rhyming.  It’s a sweet story with a message of being a good friend even to those who seem they may not deserve it.  And in being a good friend, you are an example to others to be the same.

-Lauren

I really like The Pout Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen because the rhyming has a great beat to it – My little guy will bounce to the beat as I read.   I like that it teaches us that it is truly up to us, whether we choose to be happy or not.

– Marian

We couldn’t leave you all with only a few of our favorite books, so here are a few other classic and favorite children’s books we love to have in our homes.
